Explore the wonders of our Waldorf style outdoor education programs and community cooperative initiatives in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Join us on this educational adventure where nature is the classroom and curiosity is the compass.
Nature-Centric Learning
We will be outdoors 80% of the time with suitable clothing. Giving the children the gifts of the natural world gives them a well-rounded understanding of all life.
We will follow the seasons along with seasonal festivals, song, agriculture, and art projects.
Community Engagement
Collaborate with local families and educators to create a supportive community that values learning, growth, and sustainability. By giving the children 30 minutes of free play time after drop off and one hour of free play time in the middle of the day the students have the opportunity to commune freely, learn social skills, problem solving, and sharing.
Although we will split ages up in two classes of 'youngers' (6,7,8) and 'olders' (9,10,11) we will intertwine them at times. The youngers will look up to the olders and the olders can learn teaching skills, patience, and compassion by being with the younger children.
Holistic Development
Nurture your child's intellectual, emotional, and physical well-being through a balanced approach to education and personal growth. At all times there will be a non-invasive support system from our teachers.
We aim for students to feel accepted and safe, thus creating SCS to be a home away from home.

Instill a sense of environmental responsibility and respect for nature by gaining honest understanding of how our eco-system lives through exploration.
